Vitesse Betrokken, the Foundation of Vitesse Arnhem, is operating on a daily basis in and around Arnhem.
During the Action Week, Vitesse Betrokken spoke to Tevfik, one of the participants of the foundation programme ‘Vitesse Hattrick’.
Tevfik Karademir (13) from Klarendal – st. Marten is participating in the programme Vitesse Hattrick since it’s very beginning in April 2015. The Community and Social Responsibility Programme Vitesse Hattrick follows the goal of encouraging young people through football to participate in sports . Additionally, social skills are being emphasised. On a weekly basis, in Arnhem’s regions Malburgen- Immerloo, Geitenkamp- Monnikenhuizen, Arnhem-Midden, Presikhaaf and Klarendal-st. Marten activities are offered
Tevfik gives more information about Vitesse Hattrick and tells that “Hattrick is a tournament with five different teams, from five different neighbourhood, playing against each other. The tournament winner is being decided by considering the match outcomes and the points received in terms of fair play and positive contribution to the neighbourhood.”
Hattrick is set-up in a structured way reaching children and young adults from the age os 6-12, 13-16 and 17 -21. Tevfik states: “At Hattrick it is important to pay attention to sportsmanlike behaviour and team play. I used to be a midfielder, but currently I am a goalkeeper.” Sportsmanship is important to us, this is why after each game we shake hands with the other team and the referee. Although, we do not only do that with Hattrick, but also when we are playing in the neighbourhood.”
Since almost six years, Tevfic is also active as a volunteer at Sportbedrijf Arnhem, a partner of the Hattrick project. “Through Orlando, my coach at Hattrick, I started working as a volunteer”. I already have known him since longer and I think it is great that through my work as a volunteer I can give something back to my community. As a volunteer, I built up a team for the Hattrick School and every Wednesday, I am giving football training sessions to children living in my neighbourhood. Next to that I am helping with a variety of other activities.
Currently, Tevfic is visiting the VMBO ‘t Venster school. After finishing his school, he would like to start an education as a sport teacher or in the field of security. However, his biggest dream is moving to France. “When I am married, I would like to move to France, I believe it is a beautiful country. There, I would like to start my own company”.
The programme Hattrick exists now for two years and it is being delivered in five low-income neighbourhoods of Arnhem. The programme is a cooperation between Vitesse Betrokken, stichting Rijnstad and Sportbedrij Arnhem.
Since its foundation, the Hattrick has already shown great success. Each year, more than 400 children are participating and 30% of the non-physical active participants are being further accompanied to sporting clubs or sport activities in the neighbourhood. Moreover, there have been more than 1000 contribution activities in the participating neighbourhoods.
Vitesse is proud of participants as Tevfik, who do not only participate, but also take on a responsible role within their community.
