Club Brugge hosts 11th Cup for local school teams
Club Brugge Foundation organised the 11th Club Brugge Cup on a perfect sunny Wednesday afternoon. 32 school football teams from Bruges and the city’s surroundings participated in a tournament which focused on Fair-Play, respect and ‘No to Racism’ next to sportive achievements.
Overall, 32 primary schools from Bruges and the local municipalities where welcomed at the training ground Jan Breydl. The teams with pupils from the 5th and 6th grade had to include at least 2 girls per team, to promote women’s football. Thus, all teams play with mixed teams for the prizes. In addition to playing for the sporting honor, in particular a positive and friendly attitude was taken into consideration when awarding the prize. At the end of the tournament, primary school De Lenaard received the Fair-Play prize.
The final game of the tournament was played between Zedelgem Dorp and Sint-Andreas Sint-Kruis. The SASK team won 3-0. By winning the final game, SASK will now have the opportunity to represent the club at the Pro League Schools Cup. The cup will be played at Daknam in Lokeren on May 26th.
