Recap of the #MoreThanFootball Action Weeks 2024!
Once again, the #MoreThanFootball Action Weeks are over! In the 2024 edition of the yearly EFDN campaign, around 100 clubs joined us and shared in many different ways why and how they are #MoreThanFootball. We want to thank each and every organisation that took part in this year’s edition for showing that this campaign has no limitations and that they are More Than Football.
The #Morethanfootball Action Weeks is a global campaign for the European football community to showcase the impact of their community and social responsibility activities and programmes. Initiated by the European Football for Development Network, the campaign provides the wider European football family with a platform to inform and engage with fans and stakeholders on their Community and Social Responsibility activities and raise awareness of the transformative role European club football can play in changing peoples’ lives for the better.
Let’s take a look at what different organisations have been doing during the action days and the whole campaign.
18.03 – Launch of the campaign
21.03 – Action Day – International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
24.03 – Special Champions League players doing the kick off in the S.D. Huesca game
During the game of S.D. Huesca against Burgos on the 10th of April, some players from the Special Champions League team, wearing #MoreThanFootball shirts, joined the first team before the game and two of them even did the kick off.

More Than Football Ambassadors
In addition to the action days, we also had the pleasure to have numerous ambassadors from different clubs, such as Fundação Benfica, KF Vllaznia and Neftçi PFC.

Which EFDN member will succeed last year’s winners Fundacja Legii of Legia Warsaw and win the More Than Football Award in 2024?
The More Than Football Award honours the best social initiatives run by a club, league or FA in the EFDN network. Fellow Network members vote at the annual November EFDN Conference, with the winners announced during the Gala Dinner.
