A recap of the Big Heart’s Action Week Activities
Big Hearts is taking part in the first #MoreThanFootball Action Week, an initiative from the European Football for Development Network aiming to demonstrate the social impact of community projects across the Football industry.
During this week long campaign, we are delighted to highlight a host of exciting events organised as part of our Football Memories and Kinship Care Programmes:
- SPFL Trust ”Trusted Trophy Tour” visit to Big Hearts and Heart of Midlothian FC – 29th April
A magical day for Kinship Care families attending our After School Club, with the chance to meet First team players and have their photo taken with the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup Trophies.
- Launch of a new Football Memories group ”On the road” at Craigmillar Hearts Community Club – 3rd April
This new ‘on the road’ group is the first of its kind run by Big Hearts and aims to make the project accessible for even more elderly people who face isolation and/or are at risk of dementia.
- Kinship Care Easter Family Day at Tynecastle – 5th April
A fun filled day with craft activities, face painting and games for all ages. This event is designed for Kinship Care families to spend some time together during the school break.
- Hearts School Holiday Courses with Kinship care children- 3rd to 7th April
A week of football coaching at Tynecastle for kids between 5-12 years old, hosted by Hearts Community Coaching. 10 places for Kinship Care children are kindly sponsored by DPS Group.
- Kinship Care Fostering Compassion Afternoon at Gorgie City Farm – 7th April
The opportunity for children and carers to enjoy a day out at the farm, handle and feed the animals, in partnership with Mentor Scotland & Fostering Compassion.
