This is #Morethanfootball.
What is the ‘Ready4Employment’ programme about?
Ready4Employment is aimed at those who are unemployed and aged 25 plus who face substantial barriers to gaining employment or progressing their personal development. Over the 6 week course, they attend four full days of activity every week, helping them adjust to a work timetable and developing their skills and experience.
Workshops on the course include a Skills and Strengths Audit, CV Building, Practical Application Skills, IT Skills, Communications Skills, Interview Techniques and Employer Expectations sessions. Clydesdale Bank are on board with the programme delivering financial literacy sessions including money management.
The programme operates in partnership with a range of employers who offer participants experience and valuable insights into work and training – and possibly even a longer term work placement or full-time job at the end of the programme. Partners include City Building, Tennent’s Training Academy, Elior Hospitality and Garrion Security plus various departments within Rangers FC itself, including grounds maintenance, hospitality and events, marketing, media, coaching and sports science.
Participants also have the opportunity to play football and develop coaching skills with an emphasis on team work, communication, motivation and discipline – all skills which are highly transferrable to the working environment. An SFA Level 1 coaching certificate and First Aid certificate are tangible and valuable outcomes from this aspect of the programme.
