Rangers Charity Foundation More Than Football Action Weeks
The Rangers Charity Foundation is celebrating the work it does in the community and beyond as part of #Morethanfootball Action Weeks.
Over the next two weeks (March 21 – April 8) we will be joining foundations and charities associated with football clubs across Europe by sharing stories from our charity partners, community programmes, events and initiatives illustrating that the impact football has in society goes way beyond a Saturday afternoon.
The #Morethanfootball Action Weeks, organised by the European Football for Development Network (EFDN), are part of a campaign for the European football community to showcase the impact of their investment in community and social responsibility activities and programmes.
At the Rangers Charity Foundation we are proud to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, tackling inequalities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to change their lives for the better.
Thanks to the support and generosity of Rangers fans everywhere, the Foundation has donated over £4.7 million to good causes in cash and in-kind support – an incredible testimony to Rangers and its supporters.
The Foundation focuses on a number of key charity partnerships each season and in 2016/17 donated £131,400 to 10 different charities and helped increase their profile. This season we have a new National Partnership with Scottish Autism and have made donations to three services related charities – the Coming Home Centre in Govan, Erskine and AA Veterans Support in Northern Ireland.
We are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of our International Charity partnership with UNICEF and are continuing to work with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Simon Community Scotland and Glasgow City Mission.
Since April 2016 the Foundation has had responsibility for delivering community programmes previously carried out by the Club and now runs over 25 programmes in the Glasgow area connected to health and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, education and employability.
The Foundation also assists other charitable causes and helps individual fundraisers support causes close to their hearts by donating items such as signed shirts, balls, tickets and Stadium tours and gets involved in a range of community initiatives such as match day collections for local foodbanks and distributing matchday tickets to people deserving of a special day out via its Tickets For Good scheme.
The scope and range of work carried out by the Foundation is reaching people in need across the country and beyond, and none of these amazing initiatives would be possible without the consistent and generous support of Rangers fans.
Keep an eye on our website and follow #Morethanfootball on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as we, and other foundations across Europe, share stories of our amazing work over the next two weeks.
