One Goal for Education- #Morethanfootball at EFDN

One Goal for Education is Pan European Project using football to empower and engage young people of the age 8 to 12 and 12 to 15 years-old from across Europe.

The programme  is funded by the UEFA Foundation for Children, managed by the EFDN Foundation and delivered by 10 EFDN network members, including Manchester United Foundation, Fulham FC Foundation, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Rangers FC, Montrose FC, Greenock Morton FC, Feyenoord, NEC Nijmegen and KAA Gent.

The programme launched in January 2016 is designed for children and young people from diverse backgrounds, who lack self-confidence, have low self-esteem and are struggling within the formal education system.

Clubs are creating environments to achieve learning outcomes for the young people such as developing life skills, increasing participation in physical activity, creating volunteering opportunities, raising awareness for an healthy lifestyle and improving health and wellbeing and creating opportunities for social interactions, whilst using innovative learning centres and clubs iconic facilities to fully engage, motivate and inspire the participants. One Goal (big)

As well as creating opportunities for young people, the 10 participating EFDN members are provided with a platform to establish links with diverse European football clubs, which leads to the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practice on the concept of study support centres. To enhance the exchange of information, all project partners have access to an e-learning platform. This form of knowledge sharing throughout Europe will establish further interventions for sports institutions to engage with young learners in a structured and meaningful way in line with the education systems academic objectives.

The programme has a direct impact on how football clubs work with young people in their local areas and enhances the learning opportunities offered to the target group.

The One Goal for Education Programme particularly recognises the partnership between football clubs, local schools and education authorities as a strong pillar for empowerment and engagement of young people.
