Dutch #Morethanfootball roadtrip
Last week, #Morethanfootball material was delivered to participating clubs. In Rotterdam we made Excelsior and Sparta happy with the UEFA balls and Notepads. And even more exciting: The brand new #Morethanfootball flyers! Same goes for the clubs in the north and south of The Netherlands. All professional clubs in Europe received one by post already.

Excelsior Rotterdam
Excelsior does not only show sportive achievements but as well success in regards to having a positive impact on the community. The club uses their brand and the ability of football to engage and bring people together as a mean for addressing a wide range of social issues in the neighbourhoods around the Woudestein Stadium.
That’s why the UEFA balls and the #Morethanfootball flyers came in very handy. Excelsior said that they were very happy to recieve the goodies.
Sparta Rotterdam
On behalf of Sparta Rotterdam, Stichting De Betrokken Spartaan takes responsibility for a better society and uses football as a tool to achieve its goals. The foundation develops a high level of involvement of local residents, realises commitment and works together with partners and institutions.
So you can imagine that the goodies we handed out to them, were very welcome for their projects.
ADO Den Haag
ADO Den Haag in de Maatschappij supports civil society organisations in achieving their goals in the field of promoting health, participation and education. The Foundation ADO The Hague in Society can really use the UEFA balls notepads and the #MTF Flyers. The projects they are currently doing contribute towards making a sporty and respectful youth, offering future perspectives, and promoting health. For the clinics and workshops, these #Morethanfootball materials are an absolute must.
Willem II
In addition to providing attractive football, social involvement is of paramount importance to Willem II. In order to connect football and society as well as possible, the Willem II Betrokken Foundation was established. Willem II Betrokken supports, guides, and initiates social initiatives in Tilburg and the surrounding area. That is why the goodies like the UEFA balls and notebooks came in very handy for the club from Tilburg.
VVV Venlo
VVV-Venlo is an attractive, tradition-rich and sporting leading professional football organisation in North Limburg. They believe in the power of sport and the club and want to use the opportunities that VVV offers for socially relevant purposes. We received a warm welcome when we arrived with all the #Morethanfootball flyers and balls. This picture was taken at the historical stairs in their stadium ‘De Koel’.
The stadium celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in the week we arrived. VVV Venlo regularly shows that they are more than football. VVV Venlo made a special kit for their game against FC Emmen.
NEC Nijmegen
N.E.C. has proven plenty of times that they are #MoreThanFootball. In 2008 N.E.C. founded ‘Stichting N.E.C. Doelbewust’, a foundation to give something back to community. Through this foundation the club initiates, in collaboration with partners, projects that benefit the city and region, establishing N.E.C. in society. The projects and programs that are running are mostly for kids and youth and are taking place in the field of participation of minorities, health and wellbeing, awareness on discrimination, social-emotional development, sports for disabled, unemployment training and respect. That’s why the two boxes of UEFA balls and five boxes with notebooks were more than deserved for the club from Nijmegen.
De Graafschap
De Graafschap Verbindt wants to improve the well-being and living conditions of inhabitants, groups, neighbourhoods and villages. They do this by carrying out social projects and activities in the region, by partnerships and by connecting people and organisations in society. De Graafschap Verbindt has a connecting role in society. Through social projects and activities, we want to contribute to the dream of a society in which everyone participates fully. Together with companies, organisations, municipalities and educational institutions in our region, we create opportunities to realise our mission.
FC Emmen
Just as we arrived, the club’s walking football team was playing. Emmen Old Stars are the official walking team of FC Emmen for 60+ year olds who would like to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As well as the games they have a weekly training session and there is also a focus on the social aspect instead of just purely on the football itself. Now that, is #MoreThanFootball!
FC Twente
FC Twente shows once again that they are #MoreThanFootball. In the previous year, the club made it to the shortlist for the award. The aim of their last year’s CSR project was to tackle the language gap in the region and to promote the integration of Turkish families in the local community. This year, FC Twente is again doing all they can. They are active on their socials and have high hopes to win the award this year.
