Big Hearts hosting Kinship Care during #Morethanfootball Action Weeks
Big Hearts Community Trust, the foundation of Heart of Midlothian FC hosted their first #Morethanfootball activity yesterday with Scotland’s Kinship Care Week.
On the 19th of March, Big Hearts Community Trust hosted Day 2 of Kinship Care Week celebrations. The event, supported by Mentor Scotland and the Scottish Government, welcomed over 60 children and carers who enjoyed a film screening, arts crafts workshop and a dinner party in one of the hospitality suites of the Stadium. The official charity of Heart of Midlothian Football Club uses football to reach out to families living in a kinship setting, a less known form of care that concerns 1 in 3 ‘cared after’ children in Scotland. Since 2015, Big Hearts Kinship Care programme has engaged with over 300 of these families, by delivering weekly support, holiday activities, crisis grants and an annual family day at the Hearts’ Stadium, considered to be the largest gathering of kinship carers across the country.
During the #Morethanfootball Action Weeks started yesterday (19th March) and will run through until the 9th of April, the participating organisations have the opportunity to make content available, including videos and images that cover Community and Social Responsibility initiatives. Through the hashtag #Morethanfootball, all organisations are able to raise awareness for their CSR programmes and activities while being part of the European campaign. We welcome the entire European Football Family to join us in the 2019 #Morethanfootball Action Weeks and contribute to a week that is entirely devoted to showcasing the positive impact of CSR in football. All football clubs and their community trusts, leagues and FA’s are welcome to follow the 2019 #Morethanfootball focus days and showcase their CSR initiatives and activities.
Like Big Hearts, celebrate the 2019 #Morethanfootball Action Weeks and showcase the impact of your CSR activities and programmes on your community!
