15-Year Anniversary of Vitesse Betrokken
The Vitesse Betrokken foundation celebrated its fifteenth anniversary last Tuesday and that, of course, was something to be celebrated. So Friday afternoon it was time to raise a glass to this wonderful milestone – together with the partners, involved parties and business contacts of the social foundation. As EFDN, we were so proud of Vitesse Betrokken that we had a special Vitesse cake made for them.
On Tuesday 29 March 2007 Vitesse Betrokken was born. Exactly fifteen years later, the foundation with a team of nine permanent staff is still developing numerous projects and activities to be there for its supporters, the city and the region. The 15th anniversary of Vitesse Betrokken was an opportune moment to look back at all the wonderful things the foundation has achieved so far, but also to look forward to the future with energy and enthusiasm.
As the social heart of the club, Vitesse Betrokken has been ready for various target and age groups for fifteen years. The themes central to the foundation’s activities are a healthy lifestyle, perspective, participation and social development. The structural projects with which Vitesse Betrokken is socially active in Greater Arnhem are Vitesse Hattrick, Vitesse GOALS, Vitesse Werkt!, Vitesse FIT, Vitesse United and one-day events such as the Vitesse G-Trofee. Last Tuesday, a special Vitesse GOALS training session (given by Edward Sturing) marked the 15th anniversary of Vitesse Betrokken. On Friday, in celebration of the milestone, not only were various presentations given and a beautiful anniversary video shown, but it was also time for the final round and the Vitesse Hattrick award ceremony.
At the reception, everyone was welcomed by Wim Ludeke. The chairman of Vitesse Betrokken first thanked all those involved for their presence and cooperation and then went through the agenda with those present. Ludeke also dwelt on the important role of the club in the foundation. “The cooperation with Vitesse and all partners is very close, which allows the social arm of the club to be very strong,” said the foundation chairman, who then handed the microphone over to Pascal van Wijk. The general director of Vitesse spoke of the importance of the work of Vitesse Betrokken.
“We are very happy with the foundation, to which we with the club are very happy to contribute, so that doors can open and we can strengthen each other but especially society. On to the next 15 years,”
Pascal van Wijk
The final chord came from Jan van Dellen, Alderman for Economic Affairs and Sport at the Municipality of Arnhem.
“A very proud alderman, as I stand here,” […] “Vitesse is definitely an icon in Arnhem. In my four years as an alderman for the municipality of Arnhem, I really got sucked into the story of Vitesse Bet. We all need each other and so many good things are happening here… that is not only wonderful, but also important.”
