#Morethanfootball in Belgium at the Handifoot Festival
What is a Handifoot Festival ?
At a Handifoot Festival, disabled children, teenagers or adults can easily discover the practice of football. The festival organisers set up several football stands, where graduated coaches offered various training sessions to the participants. The festival did not only aim at making people discover the practice of football, but to create enjoyment and fun for everyone.
The initiative is part of the « Nobody Offside » programme, delivered by UEFA-Hattrick Belgian Football. With this programme, the organisers follow the goal of developing the Handifoot practice in Belgium, to make football accessible for disabled person, in a good environment and with enjoyment.
The first Handifoot Festival
Four schools and institutions, open for disabled children and adults, took part in this initiation day organised by the URBSFA, the Francophone Football Clubs Association and Brussels Football, in collaboration with the Francophone Handisport League.
The festival was based on having fun and playing in a good atmosphere, both for coaches and participants.
9 football stands were set up to let the participants show their technical skills or give them the opportunity to train with the coaches. At noon, everyone could have lunch at the Festival to gain strength, after the over 80 attendees went back home at the end of a successful day.
