QPR in the Community Trust
The Community Trust became a Registered Charity in 2009 and this important transition was launched at The House of Lords. The event included speeches from trustees Lord Burns and Amit Bhatia, Trust CEO Andy Evans, First team coach Gareth Ainsworth, plus some key individuals that have been positively affected by the Community Trust.
The Community Scheme to date has reached over half a million children across the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent, Hillingdon, Westminster, Ealing and Camden since its inception in 1994.
The Scheme’s work to date has led to its inclusion in Show Racism the Red Card’s Hall of Fame, winning the Family Excellence Award 2008, being highly commended twice in the Hammersmith & Fulham Community Sports Awards 2011 and winning the Community Club of the Year Best Disability project for the Tiger Cubs at the Football League Awards 2011.
The scope of work undertaken has expanded rapidly and the Trust works with members of the local community aged 4-90. Projects are based around the Trust’s 4 core aims of health, education, social inclusion and sports participation and include: Over 60s physical activity projects, projects to divert teenagers from crime and anti social behaviour, disability projects, work in schools and educational projects based at the stadium to name a just a few.
Looking ahead, the Trust aims to build on these triumphs by continuing to have a positive influence on thousands of lives every year. QPR in the Community Trust persists in breaking down barriers and improving people’s everyday life.
