Welcome to the –temporary- European Football for Development Network (EFDN) website. The European Football for Development Network is a new network for professional football clubs and/or their associated NGO’s that use football as a tool for social development programs. EFDN aims to realize a strong network between clubs that collaborate on a wide level to exchange knowledge and create opportunities for participants to tackle issues on education, social inclusion, health and (youth) employment. We aim to have the full website operational within a few months.

Football for Development
Nelson Mandela once said that "Sport has the power to change the world...it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than government in breaking down racial barriers."
Football and sports in general are increasingly used and recognized as a tool for community development. These football for development programmes are providing people from different backgrounds with valuable tools to actively make a difference in their own lives. By addressing the most pressing issues in each community, the programmes are contributing to positive social change on a European scale.
Football has the power to help people to achieve more: address health issues, tackle racism, go back to school, find employment or become role models. Football can enhance individual development, self-confidence and conveys values of team spirit, fair play and responsibility. It teaches youth how to deal with victory and defeat, solve problems and accept rules.
The European Football for Development Network (EFDN) is a network of European community engaged professional football clubs. In almost every European country a growing number of football clubs show their social responsibility and develop community projects that are important for the people in their cities. The clubs with their internationally renowned brands facilitate access to young people who otherwise may not be reached or motivated to participate in these development initiatives.
The cooperation between the various clubs leads to a network of knowledge and a diversity of methods that directly benefit local community programmes
The clubs share their know-how, best practices and run combined European programmes on youth employment, education, inclusion and more. Furthermore the clubs set up exchange programmes for staff, volunteers and participants to enhance the quality of their local projects and activities. The member clubs stand out through innovation and partnership and see reflection and constant development as key to their sustainable success.
We believe that football can change people's lives and that's why we aim to inspire all European clubs to become more actively engaged in their communities and collaborate with our members in the field of football and development.
